Established in the UK, Wananchi is an R&D company dedicated to developing and introducing tough, reliable, and user-friendly mobile water purification systems.
The name “Wananchi” originates from African Swahili, meaning “for the people” or “of the people.”
The idea stemmed from observing mine clearance operations in South Sudan, where large quantities of bottled water were transported to base camps despite the presence of ample water sources like the Nile. This prompted the question: “Why not purify the existing water abundance?”
Since then, Wananchi has crafted its Séon family of mobile water purification systems for humanitarian, military, and commercial use, addressing the substantial challenge of water logistics.
“Séon,” derived from Old English, means “to make clear, strain, or purify.“
Our journey has been filled with excitement, from the initial ‘eureka’ moment to the deployment of our products in disaster zones after rigorous testing with the British Army.
The Problem
